A CULTURE TO LEAN INTO
Every school should have traditions shared by each graduating class from the past, present and future. When you join the Pacifica community, you are joining these traditions and reshaping their part in Pacifica culture.
i.Sight Festival
i.Sight has been a Pacifica tradition since our first graduating class and is truly a highlight event for the entire school community. The best part about the arts culture at Pacifica is that everyone is invited to participate and over 70% of the student body contributes to this celebratory end-of-year showcase. The three-night production features art, dance, music, theater, spoken word, improv, and more. and is one of the most anticipated and well-attended events of the entire school year.
Homecoming & Spirit Week
Every school has Homecoming, but not every school has a week like this! From theme days, faculty vs students games, pep rallies, crowing of the Spirit King and Queen and Homecoming court, the boat dance, the Seawolves Veterans Luncheon, and game day festivities and competition, this is a great chance to see and feel how passionate Pacifica students, faculty, parents, and alumni can be. We are the Wolfpack!
Maymester
The final two weeks of the school year can sometimes be the hardest but not at Pacifica. Maymester is a program unique to the school’s academic calendar, providing two weeks of fun, interactive, and low-stress electives to wrap up the year. Whether it is a grade-level course like the junior class college essay writing workshop, personal finance, or ten ways to cook an egg, every student ends their year in Maymester. Some past courses include:
- Daily Bread: An Intro to Breadmaking
- Ancient Roman Cooking
- Knock, Knock Joke Writing
- Mental Skills for Athletics and Adversity
- Personal Finance
- Plant-Based Nutrition
- Science of Roller Coasters
- Disc Golf
- Survival Italian
Academic Awards Night
Pacifica students work hard inside and outside of the classroom, and Academic Awards Night is a chance to recognize all of the amazing achievements of the student body. This semi-formal spring event recognizes all-school senior class awards given for outstanding achievements in service, leadership, perseverance, and qualities best exemplifying Pacifica’s mission. Subject-specific awards are also given to students from each class, as well as recognizing the year’s graduation honors and GPA-related honors for the past year. At Pacifica, it is important to share these accomplishments with our community as an essential recognition of the quality and accomplishments of our student body.
All-School Retreat
Arguably, the All-School Retreat belongs at the top of any Pacifica list! Where else does an entire high school travel together for a four-day adventure with faculty and staff leading the way? The retreat is a chance for students at Pacifica to grow deeper connections to each other and their teachers as teams are formed to compete for the coveted Pacifica Cup. Along the way, students and faculty can slow down and take stock of the deeper aspects of their spiritual, personal, and emotional selves. Come for skit night, pool Olympics, snacks by the fire, music, the ropes course, and the mud pit…or just take in the beauty of God’s creation over early morning coffee with your bunkmates. The All-School Retreat is the best way to start the year at Pacifica.
Read ore about the retreat in our student newspaper, The Wolf Post.
MMM - Movies, Munchies, and Madness
The first Friday night of the school year is spent at MMM getting pumped for the year ahead with a really big party. Movies, Munchies, and Madness (“Triple M”) is one of several Student Life events sponsored by the Pacifica Associated Student Government. Parents drop off their kids for the mystery movie night and then attend a party of their own, the Pacifica Parent Party (“Triple P”), hosted by the Pacifica Parent Association. This is the best night to meet the newest members of the student and parent community.
The Boat Dance & Prom
Part of our annual Homecoming week includes students setting sail on a yacht from Marina del Rey harbor and dancing the night away. Chaperoned by Pacifica staff and organized by ASG, the Boat Dance is the best time of year to show off the dance moves you learned on TikTok! For our upperclassmen, the year ends with an unforgettable evening of glamour and fun at the Junior/Senior Prom. The theme for the formal is carefully selected by ASG, and the stage is set as classmates eagerly await who will be crowned Prom King and Queen.
