2025 Winter Art Gallery: Ephemeral
February 28th, 2025
That’s a wrap on Ephemeral, our 2025 Winter Art Gallery! While our visual arts students often work behind-the-scenes, the Winter Art Gallery is their time to shine. Read on to hear about this year’s incredible show.
This year’s Winter Art Gallery was once again held at the Water Garden in Santa Monica and emulated a professional gallery environment. Artists from all levels showcased work in the gallery, including Beginning Drawing and Painting, Intermediate Drawing and Painting, Mixed Media, Photography, and Advanced Art. So, how did it all come together?
Since last fall, a core team of student curators (Ava Cristobal, Vyvien Estes, Bailey Coleman, Alek Yordanov, Jordan Clouse, and Aurora Malerba) alongside art teacher Liberty Worth have worked to organize, curate, and display all of the art. They designed the event logo, advertised the opening, and selected the artwork. Following many weekly 7:00 AM meetings, the team received submissions from Pacifica artists and juried which pieces would be shown in the gallery. Then, they worked over the span of two days to transport all of the artwork from Pacifica to the Water Garden and install the show. Installing is no easy task, and involves lots of measuring, tinkering with lighting, and considering how and where to display each unique piece. This dedicated team of student curators is at the heart of this event and we are so proud of their work. Additional curators include Jayden Garcia-Hagevoort, Peyton Gendall, Morgan Thomas, Javin Woollen, Frida Macias, Jessiah Casey, Kaelen Manuel, Anika Buford, Eleanor Lenz, Becca Nunez, Grace D’Nelly, Mia Heimer, and Sinjin Askins.
Visitors of the gallery got to enjoy the space while getting a close look at all of the artwork. At the closing of the gallery later tonight, our Instrumental Music department will be playing live music as guests appreciate the art. Each year, there is also an awards ceremony during the gallery opening. The recipients of this year’s awards are listed below:

Guest juror award
Alek Yordanov
3D Artist Award
Becca Nuñez

2D ARTIST AWARD
Vyvien Estes

Photography Award

In addition to student artwork, Pacifica staff are also encouraged to contribute pieces of art to the gallery as well. Who knew that their art teacher could create intricate landscapes, or that their chemistry teacher spent time on magnificent sunset paintings? Check out our faculty artwork below!
