Rebirth: Winter Art Gallery 2023

February 9th, 2023

This year, our Winter Art Gallery was unified under the theme of ‘Rebirth,’ with works of art ranging from our beginner to advanced art classes, as well as the inclusion of several staff art pieces. There are also various mediums displayed in the gallery: paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and even ceramics and glass-blowing.

Pacifica’s art teacher, Liberty Worth, along with 12 student curators have been working for months to bring the gallery together. With over 80 pieces and 55 artists displayed, the months of planning, curating, organizing, and installing do not go unnoticed. The installation will be up at the Water Garden for the duration of February, giving the Pacifica community many opportunities to explore the pieces. One room features photography, another observational drawings, while the main space features many types of artwork. Staff and faculty pieces are displayed along the hallway towards the back of the gallery.

Five remarkable students also received awards during the opening night. Pacifica senior Olivia Angelo-Turman received the Juror’s Choice Award for her acrylic painting titled ‘Kaleidoscope.’ Sophomore Isabel Milner received the Excellence in Photography Award, freshman Alek Yordanov took home the Emerging Artist Award, junior Naomi Pakianathan received the Excellence in 2D Award, and senior Mei Zhong was awarded the Excellence in 3D Award. We’re so proud of these artists and all of the beautiful and talented work that they produced.

In addition to incredible student artwork, this year Pacifica staff and faculty were also asked to submit pieces for the gallery. This allowed staff to display their creativity, and show students that even math and science teachers make art in their free time! We had wonderful submissions from various staff members, which were great additions to the gallery as a whole. Stop by the Water Garden before the end of the month to see this amazing show and celebrate all of our Pacifica artists.
