Meet Staci Lane, Associate Athletics Director
May 2nd, 2024
Staci Lane has been working at Pacifica since 2008, and has consistently demonstrated our relational view on guiding students through their high school years. She currently serves as our Associate Athletics Director, in addition to coaching our Girl’s JV Volleyball and Girl’s Beach Volleyball teams.
Coach Lane grew up in Santa Cruz and Chino, California and was “raised country” in the dairy and ranching industries surrounded by a large, but very close family. She graduated from Ontario Christian High School, which she likens to Pacifica. Lane then went on to attend Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego where she ran four years of track and field and graduated with a BA in Athletic Training. Staci looks back fondly on her time in college, saying it was a time of incredible growth. She was able to focus her passions and drive into her chosen studies, sport, and social life. She went on short-term mission trips, served the community, and was committed to a church and bible study group which she treasured. Lane says, “It was intense and amazing and went way too fast.”
Staci comes from a family of educators, so it was only natural at that point to attain her teaching credential and certificate to teach science; ever since, she has been laying into the lives of kids to teach them health and wellness for both their physical and emotional self. Not only does she get to continue doing this at Pacifica, but she is able to do so within a Christian framework.
“Having been raised in a Christian home and learned the integration of faith and education, I had a solid foundation of my beliefs and practice of faith at a young age,” said Staci. “I’ve experienced highs and lows in life, and I feel very blessed to have had this journey connected to Christ. I am stoked to be able to continue to live out my faith in an organization like Pacifica that puts Christ first.”
Lane also loves working at Pacifica because of the people.
“I still look forward to heading to work every day,” she says. “I know it’s kind of cliché, but I actually enjoy my job!”
She describes her coworkers as delightful and inspiring, while all pouring into the lives of really special students. Her joy for coaching and getting to know the students at Pacifica is evident in the relationships she has with her players, as well as her enthusiasm for contributing to the advancement of the school as a whole. Staci enjoys the unpredictable and ever-changing nature of the athletics department, and hopes that students leave the Pacifica athletics program feeling loved, valued, and seen.
“I believe that through athletics, we can impart grace and truth to them on a regular basis,” said Lane. “I hope they leave Pacifica knowing how to share their own beliefs in a confident voice. I know they leave as higher skilled athletes than where they began. It is my sincere desire that as they learn to be good teammates here at school, they can transition that to being positive and productive leaders in our society and culture.”
In her free time, Coach Lane enjoys going to the beach, losing herself in a good book, traveling with her family and the school, riding horses, skiing, harvesting her friends’ vineyard/olive grove, camping, hanging out with family, watching/playing volleyball, and spending time alone on long walks/hikes.
