Meet Bethany Wiseblood, Admissions Associate
October 20th, 2023
Bethany Wiseblood, Pacifica’s new Admissions Associate, grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and moved out to Los Angeles nearly two years ago with her husband. Growing up, Mrs. Wiseblood was homeschooled until high school, but was part of a co-op with other homeschool families where she met many friends that she remains close with today. She also maintains close relationships with her parents and two siblings.
In between high school and college, Bethany served with an international Christian ministry in Kona, Hawaii called Youth with a Mission (YWAM). With this organization, she traveled to Jordan and Thailand with small outreach teams to teach English, volunteer at refugee camps, and meet other practical needs for the people in those locations. After serving with YWAM, Mrs. Wiseblood went on to study Psychology and Middle Eastern Studies at Goucher University. She was studying abroad in Israel when COVID hit, and finished half of her degree online. While these circumstances were certainly not what she had planned, Bethany was able to obtain her personal training certification during this time and began training clients out of their homes. She has been running a women’s strength training business for the past three years because of this opportunity, and says she gained a lot of experience in practicing adaptability and time management while she completed her classes and ran her business.
Bethany grew up in a Christian household, however she says that her relationship with Jesus became personal and integral to who she is while she was serving with Youth with a Mission.
“I believe my life is part of a bigger God-story, so I make all of my decisions prayerfully,” she says. “My faith in God and His provision gave me the courage to move to L.A. with my husband a year and a half ago, even though we didn’t have jobs lined up. I continued to follow God’s leading in small steps until I was led to apply for my current position at Pacifica. The foundation of my life is the faithfulness of Jesus, and because of that relationship, I am confident that I am where I am supposed to be. This trust motivates me to approach every relationship with love and each task with excellence because I am working from a place of God’s approval, knowing he is ultimately in control.”
As Bethany has stepped into her role on the Pacifica Admissions team, she has grown to enjoy the staff’s commitment to community. She has noticed that despite job descriptions, everyone is willing to help with anything. She has also seen this culture adopted by students, who are eager to be involved in so many different facets of the school, from sports to arts to student government and clubs, to relationships with their peers and teachers. Bethany has taken charge of Pacifica’s Student Ambassador Program this year, which has given her an inside look into just how committed our students are to their passions.
“I feel very fortunate to work in a place that invests in individuals without being individualistic, and connects people across their differences.”
In her time at Pacifica, Mrs. Wiseblood hopes that students graduate from high school looking back on Pacifica as the place where they learned to listen and love well. In her free time, Bethany loves spending time with her husband, hiking with their dog, rock climbing, and being creative. She also enjoys painting, lifting, and cooking without recipes.
