Meet Mei Zhong, Pacifica Senior
January 6th, 2023
Mei Zhong is currently in her senior year at Pacifica, and her list of accolades and involvements at our school throughout her four years here will astound anyone. Mei has played indoor and beach volleyball for the entirety of her time at Pacifica, and served as the co-captain of the Varsity Indoor team this past season. She is president of Pacifica’s Diversity Council, the Head Coach of Science Olympiad, and Vice President of National Honors Society. In addition to all of this, Mei is heavily involved in the arts– this year she is a curator for our Winter Art Gallery and iSight, as well as Head Set Designer for all of our PACarts productions. While balancing all of these responsibilities, Mei has excelled as a student as well.
In fact, the possibility to have this balance is what Mei loves most about Pacifica.
“My favorite part about being a student at Pacifica is being able to do everything and make it manageable. As a student with many interests, I need to maintain a healthy balance between my coursework and extracurriculars, and Pacifica is the perfect environment for that!”
Mei displays the humility and growth that Pacific hopes to foster in students as they progress through high school. As a freshman and sophomore, she learned from her peers and explored her areas of interest. Now, as a senior, she has taken on leadership positions with confidence and grace, while remaining open to learning even more.
Mei says that her teachers and friends who have created an environment of continuous learning have been a great blessing, and that these experiences and relationships are the ones she will cherish most.
“At Pacifica, I have discovered my potential as a leader. As a freshman, I was happy being on the crew [for productions] and working under talented students who knew what they were doing. Now as a senior, I cannot say I always know what I’m doing, but I am more confident in my ability to lead a group of people whether it be academically, athletically, or artistically.”
Not only has Mei shown incredible development during her time at Pacifica, but she also brings energy and enthusiasm to campus in all that she does. She is quick to cheer on her peers and teammates, and can usually be found around campus with an inviting smile. Her genuine kindness and joy are contagious, and Pacifica is better because of it.
As she heads into her final semester at Pacifica, Mei is most excited to celebrate the accomplishments of herself and her peers as a grade. We are so proud of Mei, and cannot wait to see what is next for her.
“My hope for the future is constant growth, as leaving high school is just the beginning.”
