Philosophy and Approach

The first demand any work of art makes upon us is surrender. Look. Listen. Receive. Get yourself out of the way. There is no good asking first whether the work before you deserves such surrender, for until you have surrendered you cannot possibly find out.

-- C.S. Lewis, An Experiment in Criticism

The visual and performing arts are a vital part of Pacifica Christian. The curriculum will be centered on our belief that students need a basic understanding of the arts through classroom instruction and the ability to express their knowledge and creativity through production work. This two-fold approach of classroom instruction and production experience provides for a balanced arts education.

Opportunities in the arts will be available to the students during the regular school day. Students who wish to pursue advanced study can join the school’s academy of visual and performing arts that will meet via an extended school day.
